Day 1: Pick up at the hotel, transfer to Akagera – enjoy a boat cruise

In the morning at 8:00 am, you will leave the hotel for Akagera National Park in Eastern Province of Rwanda. From Kigali city to Akagera will take you about 2 and a half hours’ drive and lunch will be enjoyed on arrival at the safari lodge.
After having lunch, you will be transferred to Lake Ihema for an afternoon boat cruise excursion and this experience will take 2-3 hours and brings you excellent sightings of aquatic life, especially hippos, crocodiles and birds including include the pied kingfishers, black crake, African fish eagle, malachite kingfishers, spur-winged lapwings, jacanas, and others.

Day 2: Game drive & return to Kigali from the Eastern Province

In the morning you will be picked up at 6am just after your breakfast and you will start your morning game drive where you will be viewing small and large mammals, including buffaloes, elephants, the Rothschild giraffes, lions, rhinos, Kobs, antelopes, and birds. The game drive will take about 4-5 hours after which you will return to the game safari lodge for lunch and check out of the lodge.
In the afternoon you will have the opportunity of viewing more wildlife as you exit the park on your way back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at your desired location as your tour comes to an end.

Getting There

The trip will start from Kigali International Airport to Volcanoes National Park to Ibyiwacu Cultural and you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport.
