Spirit of the Hills: 8-Day Rwanda Epic Adventure

This 8 Days safari gives you a great safari experience of a life time adventure, during this trip, you will be visiting the gorillas in their Natural habitat. This is one of the biggest safari activities in Africa: Gorilla trekking. You will also participate in a boat cruise in lake Burera, visit the genocide museum site in Kigali as well as a cultural visit in Musanze. Its once in a life time safari experience to be in the presence of these gentle giants.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to hotel
On arrival you will be picked up by a tour guide and transferred to your hotel for relaxation. You have an option of having a city tour in Kigali if you like. You will have dinner at your booked hotel and overnight stay in Kigali.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
In the morning after your breakfast, you will checkout of the hotel and drive towards to the western province. On the way you can visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province, this will give you a great history of traditional ways of living among Rwandans and their past way of leadership (Kingship) with an enroute lunch. You will reach in the afternoon at Nyungwe national park and spend the afternoon at your leisure. In the evening you will have dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Early in the morning you will have your breakfast and go for a briefing before entering the forest. Once in the forest, you will hear the chimpanzees communicating with each but be careful NOT to imitate their sounds as you don’t know what those sounds mean. You will be entitled 1 hour once the chimpanzees are found, after which you will head for lunch at your hotel.
In the afternoon you will then go for a canopy walk through Nyungwe forest where you will enjoy the wonderful scenery across the 70-meter suspended metal bridge. After the canopy walk you will head back to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
On day 4 you will have your breakfast early in the morning and set off for Volcanoes national park then reach in time for lunch at your booked hotel. In the afternoon you can choose to go for an optional visit to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Later in the evening you will have dinner at your hotel and rest.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Ib’iwachyu cultural village tour
On Day 5 of your Rwanda epic adventure, you will wake up early and have your breakfast and go for gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park where you will spend some time with these fascinating animals while the tour leader explains their habits, families, and way of life. After meeting them, visitors are only permitted to see mountain gorillas for a maximum of one hour as they eat, play, and tend to the infants. This trek will also take 4 to 6 hours then you will go for lunch at your hotel. In the afternoon, you will make a visit to Iby’Iwacu cultural village where you will get to experience the culture of the traditional Rwanda people who lived who have been there for centuries including their local beer called Urwagwa as well as their dances. You will then go back to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Transfer to Akagera national park
On day 6 you will have your breakfast early in the morning and start your journey to Akagera national park and reach in time for lunch at your booked hotel. In the afternoon you will to go for a boat cruise on lake Ihema where you will have the opportunity of seeing Hippos, crocodile and some birds. After the boat cruise you will go back to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 7: Game drive and optional nature walk
In the morning you will be picked up at 6am just after your breakfast and you will start your morning game drive where you will be viewing small and large mammals, including buffaloes, elephants, the Rothschild giraffes, lions, rhinos, antelopes, and birds. The game drive will take about 4-5 hours after which you will return to the game safari lodge for lunch.
After lunch you may have an optional guided nature walk in the park which takes about 2 to 3 hours. You will follow different hiking trails where you will have the opportunity to get a unique view of the wildlife, panoramas of the hills in the park, sounds of bids and also take photos and videos to preserve your memories.
You will then go back to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Depending on the time of the flight, you will either be dropped off at the lodge or head to the airport on the final day of the 8-day Rwanda epic adventure. You will first have breakfast before leaving for the Kigali Airport.
