The hike can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, but every step is rewarded with the thrill of adventure. Once you locate the gorilla family, you are allowed one unforgettable hour to watch them as they feed, groom, and play in their natural habitat. The sight of a massive silverback leading his family through the forest is both humbling and heart-stirring—an experience that connects you deeply with the wild. The golden monkeys, with their striking orange-gold fur, are an endangered species found only in the Virunga region, and observing them is both fascinating and rare. The experience typically lasts 2 to 3 hours, offering great opportunities for photography and observation.
