Day by Day Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to hotel

Arrive in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The company representative will meet you at the airport, he will pick you up and drive you around to explore the city, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, and experience the vibrant culture. Drive to the lodge where you will check in for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 and 3: Fly to Akagera National Park

Wake up early and enjoy your relaxed buffer breakfast at the hotel, check out of lodge and the driver will transfer you to the airport to catch your flight to Akagera National Park which takes approximately 15 minutes flight, you will enjoy a beautiful countryside aerial view of Rwanda, landing in the hearts of Akagera. The park is located in the Eastern Park of Rwanda bordering Tanzania. Akagera National Park id the only Savanah Park in Rwanda for wildlife safaris. The park harbors number of wildlife such as Zebras, Warthogs, Topis, water bucks including the Big five game as well as bird species can be sighted as well.

Day 4: Fly to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Today you have morning breakfast and after, catch up with your next flight to Nyungwe forest National Park, the park is one of the tropical national parks known as a home to primates harboring over 13 primate’s species with the chimpanzees being the major attraction. The driver will take you to the airport where you will board your flight passing via Kigali airport enroute to Nyungwe. On arrival, you will find your guide waiting for you to transfer you to your booked accommodation.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk at Nyungwe 

Have morning breakfast and thereafter, drive to Nyungwe forest national park. The park is famous for hosting 13 primate species. Transfer to the park headquarters for briefing about the rules governing chimpanzee trekking. The ranger will accompany you to the forest to begin the search in the forest. The activity may last for about 2-6 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. When you find them, you will be allowed one hour with them as you watch them play, feed, among other daily activities. You will take photos and videos and thereafter, return to the starting point. Have lunch and brief relaxation.
In the afternoon, head out for a canopy walk, these 70 meters suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest National Park where you will also on a lucky day sight one or two more chimpanzees. The activity will take about one and half hours walk on this bridge, while at the bridge, you will have a cool tree top view. Later evening, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will wake up to buffet breakfast and thereafter, check out of the lodge and take your flight and fly to volcanoes national park for one of the most fascinating and ones in life time experience. The flight takes about 20 minutes with rewarding great aerial views of Congo and Lake Kivu. On arrival, you will be received by our guide who will transfer you to the lodge where you will check in for the rest of the evening. The lodge is a luxury lodge offers stunning views of the great view of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Today is the big day, rise up early for morning breakfast and the driver/guide will pick you up and transfer you to the park offices where you will attend a pre trekking briefing before the trek. After the briefing, you will be put in groups and assigned a gorilla family you will be tracking. Accompanied by the ranger to begin the search in the forest. Gorilla trekking is a bit strainous and thus requires some physical fitness. The activity will last for about 2-6 hours or even the whole day depending on the location and the movement of the gorillas. Once you have found them you will be allowed one hour with them as you watch them go about their daily activities. Feel free to take photos and videos (No flash lights). Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Golden Monkey trekking at Volcanoes National

After your buffer breakfast, you will check out of the lodge, and head off for a golden monkey trekking, with a pre- briefing exercise at the park headquarters’. Just like the gorilla trekking, the golden monkey trek, as well follows the same procedures, however less strenuous like the gorilla trekking. An hour of interaction with the golden monkey, will be allocated as well. You will head a cultural visit at Iby’ Iwacu gorilla guardian site, for a cultural experience before you drive for lunch. In the afternoon, you will fly back to Kigali.

Day 9: Departure.

Have morning breakfast and thereafter, the driver will drop you off at the airport for departure flight depending on your flight time.
